Rierson Fitness, LLC opened in 2011 with the goal of providing personalized health and wellness coaching, nutrition counseling and fitness training to clients throughout the Corridor. The company has been successful helping a diverse set of clients achieve their fitness goals by taking a unique approach to personal training.

By taking a truly holistic look at a person’s health, Rierson Fitness trainers help clients set realistic milestones to reach their goals and stay there. Increasing their strength gives clients the power needed to take on new challenges inside and outside of the gym.

With a strong and balanced physical foundation, confidence will grow in all aspects of a person’s life. Confidence is the ultimate goal the company hopes clients achieve as they begin taking ownership of their health by increasing strength and endurance and making proper nutritional choices.

What makes our training studio different?

Rierson Fitness trainers believe that personal fitness is just that – personal. The company’s commitment to supporting healthy lifestyles is based on the three principles of health, strength and confidence to ensure clients achieve results that improve all aspects of their lives.

The company operates a no-membership, train-by-appointment training center in the Warehouse on Third building (600 3rd Street) in downtown Cedar Rapids. The training center allows the company’s trainers to provide more private and focused training experience for clients while still accessing all the latest equipment and amenities. Trainers also may provide services in home or in fitness center of a client’s choice (upon approval from trainer).

Is personal training for me?

Rierson Fitness clients are various ages and abilities. They range from those looking to lose a few pounds, to kids getting ready for sports; from people approaching retirement without medications to adventurers who need focused training to climb some of the world’s tallest mountains.

Jeff Rierson founded Rierson Fitness LLC in 2011 after more than six years in fitness management and personal training. He specializes in clients looking to make long-term healthy lifestyle changes. Rierson graduated from Wartburg College with a bachelor’s degree in Fitness Management and wrestled collegiately.


Nathan (Nate) Specht : Personal Trainer

Nate Specht has more than eight years of experience in personal training. He specializes in runners looking to add strength training to enhance performance. Specht graduated from Wartburg College with a bachelor’s degree in Fitness Management and wrestled collegiately.

Kyle Petersen : Personal Trainer

Kyle Petersen has more than six years of experience personal training. He has worked with clients with a variety of fitness goals, but he specializes in training young athletes and those looking to enhance athletic performance.  A graduate of Wartburg College, Petersen has a bachelor’s degree in in Fitness Management and played collegiate baseball.

Marley Carviou : Personal Trainer

Personal Trainer

Marley Carviou graduated from Coe College with degrees in Kinesiology and Public Relations. During her time at Coe College, she played collegiate softball and now serves as their Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for all sports. She has four years of hands-on experience working with both athletes and the general public from ages ranging from 12 to 60 years old.
